After creating a successful pilot version of these invasive species PSAs, the
Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation reached out to urge me to apply for a
Melrose Cultural Council Grant (which I was thankfully awarded!) to produce more of them and brand them similarly.
Black Swallow-wort and Oriental Bittersweet are two of my least favorite invasive species and, as a conservationist and an avid green thumb, I've seen them wreack havoc on native plants, gardens, and green spaces.
They remain some of the hardest weeds to pull, and they survive many conditions our local, more useful species cannot.
I illustrated these to spread awareness and empower others to join the fight against invasives!
